Wilma Sue Murphy age 92 of Spring City went to be with the Lord peacefully in her sleep Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Golden Years Retirement Resort in Spring City. What a way to go! Go to sleep and wake up in Heaven…something she has been longing for and God has now called her home!

Sue was born in Spring City on December 13, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Nica Denton McDowell. Sue was a graduate of Rhea Central High School and worked various jobs in her lifetime; but, mostly she was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to crochet and knit. Sue was a member of the Wolf Creek Baptist Church, where she taught the Esther Sunday School Class for several years.

Sue was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Paul Murphy and her sister Jimmie Sue Shelton.

Survivors include her children Eddy Murphy of Knoxville, Ernie (Donna) Murphy of Spring City, Tim Murphy of Dayton and Sandy Murphy Boles of Spring City, her sister Puzzie Kyle of Dayton and several grandc hildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 28, 2022 at 2:00 pm at th e Wolf Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Forgey and Rev. Darwin Caldwell officiating. The body will lie in state at the churc h one hour before services. Interment will follow in the Spring City Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 7 pm at Vaughn Funeral Home.
