Sue Smith age 79 of Spring City died Friday, July 8, 2022 at her residence, surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 31, 1943 and was a lifelong resident of this area. Sue was a graduate of Spring City High School. She worked for the Rhea County Department of Education as a teacher's assistant in the Spring City Schools for 35 years before retiring. Sue loved to do crossword puzzles and enjoyed fishing with her grandchildren and spending time with her family. She was a member of the St. Clair Baptist Church.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents Fred an d Gertie McDaniel Cunningham, her husband Junior Smith and her sister Jean Waldo.

Survivors include her children Miche l le (Mike) Jolley and Cliff (Tennile) Smith both of Spring City, her brothers Everett Powers, Stanley Cunningham and Wilson Cunningham all of Spring City, her grandchildren C.J. Smith, Emily Jolley, Callie Jolley and Karley Smith all of Spring City and several nieces and nephews .

Funeral services will be Sunday, July 10, 2022 at 3:00pm in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Didlake officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughn Funeral Home on Sunday from 1 to 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memo ry of Sue be given to St. Clair Baptist Church, 760 Rocky Springs Road, Spring City, Tennessee.
