Velba G. Smith, 87, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at her home.

She was a lifetime resident of Spring City and the daughter of the late John Walter and Ella Mae Keylon Gossett.  Velba was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Worship Center in Spring City.  She loved to read, work crossword puzzles and going to yard sales.  Velba had a special and enduring love for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Perry Oliver Smith, son Larry Steve Smith, daughter Patsy Jean Smith, granddaughter Rebecca Faye Newman, brothers Estell James Gossett and Manuel McCoy Gossett and sisters Marcella Sue Gossett and Christina Gossett.

Velba is survived by her children Vernon (Wilma) Smith of Grandview, Norma (Wallace) Newman of Gun Barrel City, Texas, Allen Smith of LaBelle, Florida, Margaret (Tim) Henderson of Evensville, Tennessee, Dennis Smith, Terry Smith and Robin (Wesley) Walker all of Spring City, brothers Kenneth (Margaret) Gossett and Cecil (Clara) Gossett both of Dayton, sisters Deana Belle Denton and Evelyn Johnson both of Dayton, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Grace officiating.  Interment will follow in the Spring City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
