Obituary

Timothy R. Hickman, 77, passed away Oct. 24, 2023 at his home in Crossville with his son at his sidefollowing a brief illness.

A graduate of Spring City High School, he attended and played baseball at Hiwassee College until joiningthe U.S Navy and serving in the Vietnam War.

Tim worked 30 years as a unit operator for TVA at multiple locations including Watts Bar, John Sevier and New Johnsonville Steam Plants. He was an avid golferand enjoyed the outdoors, which included feeding the wildlife around his home.  Whether it be deer, turkeys, birds, foxes, or skunks, they would start encroaching on the house if he wasn't out there by feeding time.

He was always up on current events and never shied away from writing to the editors of the local papers,electric cooperatives as well as state and federal legislators.  Tim was a life-long TN Vols and Atlanta Braves fan.

Preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Joy Newby Hickman; his parents, James Hickman and L. Faye Hickman and father-in-law Earl Newby.

He is survived by his son Bo (Blair) Hickman, Jonesborough and daughter Jennifer (Michael) McDaniel, Murfreesboro; grandchildren Zach (Karleigh) Hancock, Hernando, MS, Katelyn McDaniel, Memphis and Matthew McDaniel, Knoxville.  He is also survived by his sister Debbie (Barry) Calhoun, Rockwood, MI and mother-in-law Viola Newby, Spring City as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
