Thelma Gilliam , 87, died Thursday, January 21, 2021 at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga.

Born on July 9, 1933, in Grandview, TN, Thelma was the daughter of the late Nelma S. and Ester Jolley Teffer . She was a lifetime r esident of Grandview. Thelma was a grad uate of Spring City High School.  She worked at several ma nufacturing facilities in Rhea County and retired from La-Z-Boy after over 25 years. Thelma attended the Christian Fellowship Church in Grandview.

Thelma was preced ed in death by her parents , Nelma S. and Ester Jolley Teffer , her husband Herbert "Gene" Gillia m, and her brother Billy Teffer .

Surviv ors include her sons Alfred (Joyce) Gilliam, Jerry Gilliam, Tommy (Connie) Gilliam and Jimmy (Ka ren) Gilliam all of Grandview, 8 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service s will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home w ith Rev. Danny Smith, Rev. Dwight Zimmerman, and Rev. Stephen Zimmerman officiating.  Interment will be in the Johnson Stand Cemetery in Grandview.  The family wil l receive friends Monday, January 25, 2021 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Vaughn Funeral Home . Due to Covid-19 concerns, masks will be required.
