Spencer "Smitty" Smith, age 77, passed away on Sunday June 14, 2026 at Tennessee Veterans Home in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Spencer was born on March 31, 1949 to the late Dewey and Josephine Smith.   He was a lifelong resident of Rhea County and was of the Baptist faith.  Spencer was a proud veteran of the United States Marines.  He enjoyed working puzzles, and going to car shows and races.  He worked for the United States Postal Service and retired after 38 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his infant sister; Willadean Smith.

Spencer is survived by his wife of 53 years; Martha "Cookie" Moran Smith, daughter; Mindy Smith Newell (Jeff) of Evensville, sister; Becky Hall of Evensville and three grandchildren; Brandon Newell, Ashton and Aidan Smith.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 4:00 PM at Smyrna Cemetery with Dr. Roger Rothwell officiating.  There will be no visitation.

Pallbearers will be: Jeff Newell, Brandon Newell, Ashton Smith, Aidan Smith, Kenny Beaty, and Brent Travis.
