Shirley Rose Monday, 82 of Grandview died Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at her home.

Born on July 3, 1938 , Shirley was a lifetime resident of Grandview.  She was the daughter of the late Quincey Martin and Mary Ruth Ezel Reid.  Before her retirement in 1998, Shirley worked as a cafeteria cook for the Rhea County Department of Education for 30 years.  She loved nature and the outdoors.  Shirley especially enjoyed spending time with her family, her dogs and her cats.  She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Grandview.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband George Ed Monday, her son Kenneth "Kenny" Monday and her son-in-law Billy Popas.

Survivors include her children Michael (Sutton) Monday, David (Kim) Monday, Donna Popas and Doris (Ron) Gilbert all of Grandview, her sister Anna Bea Turner of Nashville, 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Bristow officiating. Interment will follow in the Monday Family Cemetery in Grandview.  The family will receive friends Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Vaughn Funeral Home.
