Shirley Travis Barnett, 88, of Oak Ridge and formerly of Spring City , died Monday, December 3, 2018 at her residence.

A lifetime resident of Spring City, Shirley was the daughter of the late Lester Theo and Lena Mary Patten Travis.  She was a graduate of Rhea Central High School.  Shirley was a teacher's aid for 21 years and retired from the Rhea County Department of Education.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Spring City, where she taught the Beginner's Sunday School Class and served as a G. A. leader.  Shirley was a former memb er of the Rhea County Crewettes.  She loved to knit and crochet, play golf and travel.  Shirley and her late husband, Ted, spent their winters in Florida for many years.  Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Haskell A. "Ted" Barnett, son Travis H. Barnett Sr., sisters Helen Travis, Maxine White, Imogene Powell and Anne Roddy and brothers Joe Travis and Bobby Travis.

Survivors include her son Lester (Susan) Barnett of Lenior City , sisters Lennie Alice Sneed and Bennie (Bobby) Aikman both of Dayton and grandchildren Jeremy Scott (Melissa) Barnett and Travis Haskell Barnett , great grandchildren Sean and Michelle Barnett and special friend Nancy Knox of Spring City .

Funeral services are Thurs day, December 6 , 2018 at 3:00 p m in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Price officiating.  Interment will follow in the Spring City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday f rom 1:00 p m to 3:00 p m at Vaughn Funeral Home.
