Our dear mother Rowena Gen eva Caraway Gentry Phillips also known as Mamaw and Aunt RoRo entered in to the arms of her Lord and Savior on September 20, 2022 at the age of 92. Born on September 26, 1929 in Rhea County, Tennessee, she was a lifetime resident of this area. Rowena and her late beloved husband Harmon "Bo" Gentry were joined in marriage July 26, 1947 and raised their family in Sale Creek, Tennessee.  Judy and Timothy was her pride and joy and always keep her on her toes.  Judy kept her young, keeping her on the go with shopping and traveling. Timothy is still lookin g for that B illy goat with brass horns . A s a young boy he heard his Mother often say, "You could worry the horns off of a brass Billy goat ." Rowena enjoyed her role of Grandmother to Mindy, Taylor and Great Grandmother to Leo, Ian and Max.  She enjoyed being a part of the Soddy-Daisy Senior Citizens as well as the PrimeTimers of Soddy Church of God.  Rowena was of Church of God faith and was a very active member at Sale Creek Church of God before her declining health.  She was much loved and will be missed by many.

Rowena is p receded in death by her parents Hezekiah E. and Eliza (H elton) Caraway, husband Harmon " Bo " Gentry, her second husband Kermit R. Phillips, Son-In-Law David J. Horton as well as all of her siblings: 6 sisters, Lucille White, Rosa Hall, Margaret Gallion, Kattie Caraway, Mildred Henderson, Virginia Ann Caraway; 1 half-sister Hettie Caraway White, and 3 brothers, J.T Caraway, Bill Fred Caraway and Marion Caraway.

Rowena is survived by her children: Judy Gentry Horton and Timothy (Cherie) Gentry.  Grandchildren: Taylor (Amanda) Gentry and Mindy (Scott) Britt. Great-grandchildren : Leo, Ian, and Max Britt; along with many relatives in Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama and Michigan.

Family graveside service will be held at Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton, TN at 1:00 PM on Saturday September 24, 2022 with her nephew Ben Barrentine presiding.  Rowena will be laid to r est next to her husband Harmon " Bo " Gentry.

The family is being cared for by Vaughn Funeral Home of Spring City, TN.  They wish to express their sincere thanks to Donna Vaughn and her staff for their support and compassion.  The family also extends a deep heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga - Dayton Team, especially Shanua, April , Daphne, Dana, Kathleen, McKenzie and Chris for your excellent care of mom and support for our family.  Should anyone wish to honor the life of Rowena, the family ask donations be made to:  Young At Heart - C/O Soddy Daisy Senior Center, 290 Depot Street - Soddy-Daisy, TN, 37379.
