R obert Francis Petersen Sr. , 86 , died Tues day, May 11 , 20 21 at the Life Care Center of Rhea County in Dayton.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 18, 1934 , Robert was the son of the late John N. and Margaret Frayher Petersen .  He joined the U. S. Marine Corp at the age of 16 ; then later joined the U.S. Air Force. He moved to the Spring City community in 1974. Robert retired after work ing at the Spring City Care and Rehabilitation Center.  He liked the outdoors, enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and loved to garden.   Robert especially enjoyed his family.  He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Joyce Petersen, his second wife Linda Ann Petersen, his brother William Petersen and his sister Carole Smith.

Survivors include his daughter Joy (Donnie) Turner of Dunlap , sons Bobby Petersen Jr., of Knoxville, Randy (Delores) Petersen, Larry Petersen and Mark Petersen all of Spring City, David Petersen of Harriman and John (Shannon) Petersen of Cleveland, his brother Thomas Petersen of Norton, Massachusetts, his sister Peggy Cruff of Norton Massachusetts, 31 grandchildren and several great grandchildren .

A memorial service will be held Satur day , May 15 , 20 21 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Spencer and Rev. Michael Grant officiating . The family will receive friends Satur day from 2:00 pm to 3:00 p m at the funeral home.
