Rhey Houston 81 of Spring City died Friday, February 3, 2017 at his residence.  A lifetime resident of Spring City, he was the son of the late Grant and Reva Cunningham Houston. Rhey was a graduate of Spring City High School and served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Bogles Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for over 40 years. Rhey owned and operated Houston Enterprises for many years until his retirement. He was a member and past master of Rhea Springs Lodge #310 F.& A.M. and a member of the Alhambra Shrine Temple.

Rhey was preceded in death by his son Joseph Onas Houston, granddaughter Nicole Houston, sister Barbara Jean Houston and brother John Houston.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years Sara Gunter Houston of Spring City, son Rhey Houston of Dayton, sister Pauline Brown of Spring City, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Aaron Revis and Rev. Billy Joe Vitatoe officiating. Masonic services will follow in the chapel. Burial will be in the Spring City Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday, February 6, 2017 from 5 to 7 PM at Vaughn Funeral Home.
