Philip Tully
Hodge
d. Aug 23, 2019
Spring City
Philip Tully Hodge ended his life journey Friday August 23, 2019 while on expedition in Nuuk, Greenland. He was a longtime resident of Spring City, TN. He is survived by his wife Marjorie; children: Jason Daniel Kubelick of Spring City, Lisa Marie Kubelick (Anthony Essex) of Dayton, and Eli Nicholas Kubelick (Kelly Lee) of Spring City; four grandchildren: Issac James Essex, Nash Parker Kubelick, Gaven Reed and Paighton Reed; sisters Susan E. Hodge (David Greenberg) of Ohio and Elizabeth Hodge Kelly (Bill Kelly) of California along with several nieces and nephews.
Phil was a loving and devoted husband of twenty-five years. A world traveling entrepreneurial businessman with a heart even bigger than he was tall. He always pushed and inspired the people he met and cared about to become the best versions of themselves. He had a love for learning and always encouraged others to never stop learning and growing. He was a one of a kind father stepping in with selflessness and guidance to children he made his own. He was a respected member of the Pine Grove Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Board of Directors of the Cumberland County Playhouse, and a treasured philanthropist to many organizations. Phil was a patron of arts and sciences. As an engineer, he was highly respected by his colleagues having been on the advisory board for the Academy of Structural & Mechanical Engineers.
While this is just a short list of some of what made Phil so special and loved, hopefully it will serve the purpose of closure for some, memorabilia for others, as well as insight. Phil always said, "Nothing is impossible." Tough words to live by but for those of us who knew him and loved him, we know he tried every day.
A celebration of life for Phil Hodge will be announced at a later date. The family will do our very best to notify everyone who would want to join in his memory with us. In lieu of any flowers, etc., please consider making a donation to your local library, the TVT Theater in Spring City, or the Cumberland County Playhouse in Phil's memory.
"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page." – Saint Augustine
