Perry Smith , 100, born on September 12, 1917 , died Sun day, May 13, 2018 at his home in Chattanooga .

Born in Spring City , Perry was the son of the late James William and Molly Ida Thedoshia Chumley Smith. He was a graduate of Spring City High School and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. While serving his country, Perry won several medals including a Pacific Theatre Ribbon with 2 Bronze Battle Stars.  He retired from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory – K25 Plant. Perry was a member of the F irst Baptist Church of Spring City and also a sixty-one year member of the Rhea Springs Lodge #310 F. & A. M.

He was preceded in death by first wife, Imogene Collins Smith, their son, Robert Gary Smith, and second wife, Joan Byrd Smith.

Perry will be greatly missed by his granddaughter Stephanie (Michael) Hall of Chattanooga and many other family members and friends .

Funeral services are Tues day , May 15, 2018, at 2:00 p m in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Price officiating with Masonic services to follow . A private interment will be in the Long Cemetery .  The family will receive friends Tues day from 1:00 p m to 2:00 p m at Vaughn Funeral Home.
