Opal N. Rector, 104, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the U. T. Medical Center in Knoxville.

A lifetime resident of Spring City, Opal was the daughter of the late Utah B. and Icy Pearl Reed McFalls.  She was the oldest of 12 children and she was the matriarch of the Icy and Utah McFalls clan.  Opal was a homemaker and was of the Protestant faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband Max Dallas Rector, daughters Shirley Rector Poteet and Delilah Ruth Rector, brother Floyd McFalls, sisters Emma Byrd, Garvia Roberts and Bertha Smith and grandchild Joshua Poteet.

Survivors include her children Dean (Kathy) Rector of Richmond, Virginia, "Flip" (Alan) Grissom of Huntsville, Alabama and Dale Rector of Oak Ridge, sisters Betty Clack of Oak Ridge, Sydneia "Micky" Mosolgo of Crossville and Katherine Miller of Flat Rock, Michigan , brothers Carlos McFalls of Crossville, Charles McFalls of Marietta, Georgia, Billy Ray McFalls of Rayne, Louisiana and Jay McFalls of Chattanooga, seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Graveside services are Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 3:30 pm at the Spring City Memorial Gardens with Jay McFalls officiating.  The family will receive friends Saturday at Vaughn Funeral Home one hour before the graveside service. Opal's family appreciates all of the caregivers through the years.
