Nilla Jean Mahaffey age 75 formerly of Spring City, Tennessee died on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Hospice of Chattanooga.

She was born on August 27, 1947 in Worthington, Minnesota . Nilla has lived in this area since 1986 after moving here from Alaska. She most recently lived in Virginia and later moved back to Tennessee. Nilla loved music and to paint pictures . She also loved to cook and bake with her late husband "Joe" Mahaffey . Nilla was a member of First Baptist Church in Spring City.

Nilla is also preceded in death by her parents Henry and Bernice Ross Meier, her sister Marilyn Taylor, and her brother Ronald Meier.

Survivors include her children Richard (Velvet) Leete and Jennifer (Glenn) Morris both of Hixson, Tennessee and Christopher Leete of Norfolk, Virginia; her sister Janice (Al) Newby of North Pole, Alaska; her brother Randy Meier of Missouri; her grandchildren Katherine White, Jennifer Harville , Christina Johnson and Jeffrey Morris; her great grandchildren Alyson, Aliah and Adrien, and her two furbabies "Rusty" and "Dora".

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Spring City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Vaughn Funeral Home.

The family requests that everyone attending the service wear bright colors.
