Mildred V. Powers age 86 passed away October 17, 2020 at home surrounded by family.

Born on January 28, 1934 , Mildred was a lifetime resident of Spring City. She was a graduate of Spring City High School in 1953 . Mildred had worked in almost every sew ing mill in Rhea County. She retired from La-Z-Boy in 1993.  Aside from her treasured family, she loved sewing and quilting. She started this hobby at age 10. Mildred made many quilts, including lap-q uilts for shut-ins, wheelchair and cancer patients. She was a member of the Clear Creek Baptist Church.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Margie Miller Walker .

She is survived by her husband of 66 years Rev. James Everett Powers; her daughters Duwana Powers, Diana Winfree , Connie (David) Edwards, Sharon (Jim) Lewis, Karen McCurdy, and son James David (Angie) Powers. She also had 6 grand-daughters; Jody Keener, Stephanie (Mike) Brewer, Rachel ( Jerremy ) Barnes, Amanda (Zach) Davis, Devan Powers, and Jessica Powers. Her 7 great-grandchildren include Bradley Parks, Zackery Barnes, Kaitlyn Barnes, Peyton Davis, Lakelyn Davis, Emma Powers, and Bailey Powers.

A graveside service was held at the Smith Wilkey Cemetery on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 2:00pm with Rev. Rusty Revis officiating.
