Maxine Rothwell age 81 of Evensville, Tennessee died on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga.

She was born on April 22, 1944 to the late Walter and Clearcy McDonald Fugate and was a lifetime resident of the area. Maxine was a graduate of Spring City High School "Class of 1962". She worked as a housekeeping supervisor in various nursing homes, most recently at Spring City Healthcare. Maxine loved to decorate, especially at Christmas. She also loved her family and her church family. Maxine was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church.

Maxine is also preceded in death by her brothers Morgan "Jet" Fugate, Fred Fugate, and James "Coon" Fugate, her sisters Mick Gravitt, Elizabeth Smith, Frances Daniels, and Mary Sue West.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years Dr. Roger Rothwell of Evensville, Tennessee; her children Cindy (Bobby) Doss of Dayton, Tennessee and Tim (Nikki) Rothwell of Cleveland, Tennessee; her sister Linda (Tommy) Gentry of Dayton, Tennessee; her grandchildren Nathan (Maddie) Rothwell, Holden Doss, McKenna (Trent) Welchel, Gage (Gabby Slattery) Rothwell, and Mason (Laney) Rothwell; her great grandchild Wiley Welchel; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Ruehling and Rev. David Haynes officiating. Interment will follow in Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
