Mark A. Southerland age 63 of Spring City died Saturday January 8, 2022 at Life Care of Rhea County. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee,

Mark was a special man ; who spent the majority of his lifetime living at the Museum of Appalachia in Norris, Tennessee helping with the animals. He appeared in various roles in the "Heartland Series", showing his "special" talents with the animals and portraying the lifestyle s of Appalachian living. Mark was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Spring City.

Mark was preceded in death by his father John Southerland.

Survivors include his mother Anna E. Thompson and his sister Cheryl Southerland both of Spring City and many cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Mark will be Tuesday January 11, 2022 at 3:00pm in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at Vaughn Funeral Home from 1pm until time of services.
