Lawrence Edward McClendon , known by some as "Eddie" and to others as "Larry" , d eparted this life at the age of 77 on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at a Sweetwater, Tennessee hospital. He was born on April 11, 1945 in Madisonville, Tennessee to the late Oscar F. and Georgia Belle Wilkerson McClendon . Lawrence was a graduate of High Point High School in Sweetwater and joined the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam Conflict. Lawr ence worked as an engineer with the CSX Railroad, retiring after 31 years. He was a member of the Reed United Methodist Church in Spring City.

Lawrence was also preceded in death by his wife Vivian Lee Ca l loway McClendon and his siblings Charles, Janet, James and Theodore McClendon.

Survivo rs include his children Phaedra Brewster of Sweetwater, Tennessee, Terry (Erica) McClendon of Dayton and Travis (M isty) McClendon of Spring City , his grandchildren Darius Ridley, Jazmine, Ty ra, Quincy and Bryson McClendon and his sister s -in-law Patricia Horton of Spring City and Noreen McClendon of Maryville

A private graveside service, with military honors will be a t later date in Petersburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the National Kidney Foundation.
