Obituary

Karen “Toss” Phillips 58 passed away Monday, August 31, 2026 at Erlanger Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born on Friday the 13th, October 1967 to the late Ray and Patty Manis Phillips in Dayton, Tennessee. Toss was a graduate of Rhea County High School, Chattanooga State and Memphis College where she achieved two associate’s degrees. She was a production specialist at Nokian Tyre in Dayton and travelled overseas to train for its initial startup. Toss enjoyed all kinds of sports; especially UT softball, women’s basketball and football. She loved people and didn’t discriminate; she loved everyone. Toss was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She attended Watts Bar Community Church in Decatur, TN.

Survivors include, the love of her life, her wife Becky Newton Phillips of Spring City, their children Kampton Derryberry of Spring City, Gavin Newton of Knoxville, Zabrina Weston, Sierra Weston, Joston Phillips and Jace Phillips all of Spring City, her sisters Dr. Brenda Hill and Lynne (Wesley) Haddock both of Evensville and Dr. Kimberly (Bobby) Moffett of Spring City, her grandchildren Kayson Jordan and Roseylee Newton and her special friend Lyndsay Hurt of East Ridge, TN.

Funeral services will be Sunday, September 6, 2026 at 4pm at the Watts Bar Community Church will Rev. Kelly Goins officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 to 4pm the day of the service. The interment will be private in the Concord Cemetery in Evensville.

Memorials may be given to “Celebrate Recovery” at Watts Bar Community Church, 1517 State Hwy 68W, Decatur, TN 37322.
