J. R. Bell , 84, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Memorial North Park Hospital in Hixson.

A lifetime resident of Rhea County , J. R. was the son of the late Elder Rufus and Maggie Alice Brown Bell. He was a graduate of Spring City High School, Class of 1954 and a veteran of the U. S. Army. J. R. worked for 26 years for the Army Ammunition Plant and 16 years for Astec, Inc. in Chattanooga before retiring.  He and his wife, Doris, owned and operated J. R.'s Hobby Shop for 31 years.  J. R. was a member of the Concord Union Church in Evensville.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Lois Lowe, Roxie Fugate, Rose Ingram, Lucille Overton and Helen Easter and brothers Glen , Fletcher, Clyde and Tom Bell.

Survivors include his wife Doris G. Bell of Spring City, son Darrell (Kathy) Bell of Dayton, brother George Bell of New Hampshire, grandson Rev. Eric (Tymri) Bell and great grandchildren Kelsie and Bailen Bell.

Funeral services are Thurs day, June 21 , 20 18 at 3:00 p m in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Bell officiating.  Interment will follow in the Spring City Memorial Gardens .  The family will receive friend s Thurs day from 1:00 p m to 3:00 p m at Vaughn Funeral Home .
