John David " Junior " James Jr. 69 died Friday September 28, 2018 at Memorial Health Care System in Chattanooga .

Born in Cumberland Co, he was the son of the late John David and Cleeta Ann Reed James Sr. A police officer for over 35 years, Junior worked f or the Spring City Police Department where he served as chief and then for the Rhea County Sheriff's Department; where he served as the court officer when he retired in 2014. Junior loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was of the Church of God faith.

Survivors include his children Jason (Jill) James of Crossville and Emily James-Sawyer of Dayton, step daughter Sueann Keltch of Graysville, mothers of his children Barbara Reed of Grandview and Kathy Harris-James of Spring City, grandchildren LaKeisha James, Cody (Jessica) James, Jagger Wesolowski, Neylan d Sawyer, Jessica Sawyer, Emily Sawyer, Trevor Slaven and Stacey Slaven and great grandchildren Chloe and Jaxon James.

Funeral services will be Tuesday October 2, 2018 at 4pm in the funeral home chapel with Officer B. J. McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in the Reed Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday October 1, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at Vaughn Funeral Home. Fellow police officers will provide the honor guard and the pallbearers for Junior's visitation and services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rhea County Sherriff's Dept.
