James Michael "Mike" Hursey , 77, died Monday, November 9, 2020 at his daughter's home in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Born on October 9, 1943 in Savannah, Georgia , Mike was the son of the late John and Hilda Lanier Hursey. Mike served his country serving in the U.S. Air Force. He and his wife Ethel moved to Spring City in 1977 from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mike retired from TVA – Watts Bar after 30 years. H e was a member of the Rhea Springs Lodge #310 F . & A.M. wher e he was a Past Master, he was also a Past Commander of the Knight Templar #38, Past High Pri est of Rhea Springs #83 , Past Illustrious Master of the Drumond Council #86, Grand Warder of Knight Templar Tennessee, Sovereign Maste r of the Tennessee Council #341, Past Grand Sword Bearer of Knights Templar Tennessee, Cherokee York Rite College #152, Calvary Council #140, Chattanooga Asy lum #2 Knight Commanders, K.Y.C.H, Silver Trowel and the Order of High Priesthood. Mike was a member and a deacon of the First Baptist Church in Spring City and was also involved in the "Tuesday Guys" at the church. He enjoyed his cars, riding his Harley and play ing golf.

Mike was preceded in death by his wife Ethel Hursey, his brother Johnnie Hursey and his sister Gwyn Sheffield.

Survivors include his daughter C rissy (David) Long of Oak Ridge, his brother Jay Hursey and sister Janet Hur s ey both of Anchorage, Alaska, grandchildren Austin Dunn and Amy (Jake) Fowler, great grandchild Emmaline Fowler and his dog Gretchen "The Boxer".

Funeral services are Satur day, November 14 , 2020 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Price officiating. Masonic honors will follow in the chapel. Interment will be in the Spring City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Vaughn Funeral Home.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks will be required.
