Howard Ray Thurman, 71 of Spring City died Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at his residence.

Born on January 29, 1950, Howard was a lifetime resident of Spring City.  He was a graduate of Spring City High School.  Howard was a commercial fisherman for years and also worked for the La-Z-Boy Corporation.  He retired from the Tennessee Department of Forestry.  Howard loved hunting, fishing, leatherworking and enjoying good music.  He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Decatur, TN.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents Gordon W. and Icey Roberts Thurman.

Survivors include his children Jamie (Mitch) Pritchett of Spring City, Michael Thurman of Florence, AL and Angel Thurman of Decatur, brother Kenneth (Lucy) Thurman of Spring City, sister Dorothy (J. R.) Allen of Spring City, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 1:00 pm EDS at Winnie Cemetery in Spring City.  There will be no visitation.
