Howard B. "H.B." Rankin, 87, died Sunday, February 9, 2020 at his residence .

Born in Pikeville, Tennessee on August 26, 1932 , H. B. was the son of the late John Marshall a nd Daisy Elaine Pitman Rankin.  He was a graduate of Spring City High School and Tennessee Tech University.  H. B. was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was an electrical engineer and retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority in 1987 . H. B. was a member of the Spring City United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Spring City Library Board, Spring City Cemetery Association Board , American Legion Post #203 and the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Jim and John Rankin and his granddaughter Carrie Cla bough.

Survivors include his wife Polly J. Rankin of Spring City, c hildren Donna Clabough and Jenny Chattin both of Spring City, grandchildren Shannon Brown, Chris Clabough , Lori Chattin and Hannah Chattin, great grandchildren Chase Allred, Jaxon Clabough and Cyler Clabough.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Wyrick officiating.  Burial will be in the Spring City Cemetery after the service.  The family will receive friends Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Vaughn Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spring City Library Foundation, P. O. Box 129, Spring City, TN  37381.
