Helen L. Martin, 82, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Rhea Medical Center.

Born in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Ted and Hazel Johnson. Helen was a secretary for the Adult Detention Center of Cobb County, Georgia before her retirement. She and her husband, John, moved from Georgia to the Spring City community in 1997. Helen attended the Wolf Creek Baptist Church in Spring City. She was a 20 year member of the Civil Air Patrol. Helen and John operated the Spring City Senior Center for the last 17 years.

She was preceded in death by her son Stephen "Steve" Gilbert, stepson John Martin Jr., stepdaughter Debra Denise Martin, brother Johnny Johnson and sister Margaret Price.

Survivors include her husband John Martin of Spring City, sons James Gilbert of Spring City and Timothy Hall of Evensville, stepdaughter Connie Wheeler of Abilene, Texas and stepson Michael Martin of Cartersville, Georgia, brother Jimmy Johnson of Tyler Texas, sister Mary Carroll of Conrow, Texas, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services are Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Wolf Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Forgey officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Spring City Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Vaughn Funeral Home.
