Helen Kunkel, 86, died Sunday, December 1, 2019 at her home.

A lifetime resident of Spring City, she was a seamstress and retired from the Athens Silk Mill.  Helen enjoyed watching television including cooking shows and wrestling.  She loved her family and her special companion "Misty" the cat.  Helen was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her mother Florence Newman and brother "Popeye" Newman.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years Michael Kunkel of Spring City, special niece B. J. Neal of Spring City , son Eddie Newman of Spring City , brother Slim Newman of Decatur, sister Betty Jo Neal of Spring City, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Sewee Church of God Cemetery in Niota, Tennessee with Lesa Frady officiating.  There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Animal Shelter Alliance of Rhea County, 9118 Back Valley Road, Evensville, TN  37332 .
