Haskell A. "Ted" Barnett, 90, of Oak Ridge and formerly of Spring City, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

A lifetime resident of Spring City, Ted was the son of the late Hugh and Jane Hunt Barnett.  He was a graduate of Spring City High School and was a veteran of  World War II serving in the United States Navy.  Ted was a member of U. A. Local #43 Pipefitters and worked for TVA for 31 years retiring in 1983.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Spring City, where he taught Sunday school and served as a deacon for over 50 years.  Ted was a former member of the Rhea County Rescue Squad and a member of the American Legion Post #203.  He worked with young people and was an avid traveler and golfer.

Ted was preceded in death by his son Travis H. Barnett Sr., sister Ellie Mae Malone and five brothers Jim, John, R. G. Eual and Kenneth Barnett.

Survivors include his wife of over 70 years, Shirley Travis Barnett of Oak Ridge and formerly of Spring City, son Lester (Susan) Barnett of Knoxville, two grandchildren Jeremy Scott (Melissa) Barnett and Travis Haskell Barnett and two great grandchildren Sean Barnett and Michelle Barnett.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Price officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow in the Spring City Cemetery.   The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
