Glenda Joyce Chaple Tallent , 74 of Huntersville, North Carolina passed away on Fri day, June 4, 2021 at Novant Health in Huntersville.
Born in Sale Creek, Tennessee on January 21, 1947 to the late Glenn John Chaple and the late Verna Francisco Chaple as the eldest of two daughters, she excelled in many things. Glenda graduated from Rhea Central High in Dayton, Tennessee as class Valedictorian. She continued her education a t Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina where she graduated as the number one student in the College of Business with a BSBA degree. Glenda finished her MBA (Masters in Business Administration) in the charter class at Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina where she was again the tops in her class. She married James Quenten Tallent on May 23, 1970 at First Centenary United Methodist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After a short career at TVA, she had a very successful career in Healthcare Management and Administration in North and South Carolina. She worked as President of a nurse staffing company as well as healthcare executive in the hospital and physician practice management settings. Glenda was a devoted member of Davidson United Methodist Church. She served on a number of health care boards including March of Dimes, Diabetes Foundation, American Marketing Association – Health Care Division, etc. Glenda was an avid gardener and writer. Her daughter, Heather, was always the "light of her life and the joy of her heart".
Survivors include her beloved husband James Q. Tallent of Huntersville, North Carolina and one daughter Heather Tallent-Furberg and son-in-law Lars Jonas Furberg of Silver Springs , Maryland. She is also survived by one sister, Joanne Chaple Cowden of Dayton, Tennessee and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Mon d ay , June 7 , 20 21 at 11:00 a m at the Spring City Memorial Gardens with Rev . Paul Forgey officiating. There will be no visitation.
