Gilbert "Boots" Godsey age 73 of Spring City, Tennessee died on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Spring City Care and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on August 6, 1949 in Spring City to the late Clyde Godsey and Maxine McClendon Godsey Sr . Boots attended school in Spring City. He worked for Shipley's Grocery Store located in Spring City and Dayton and also Shoprite Grocery, Old Dominion Box Company and retired from Rhea County Nursing Home.

Boots is also preceded in death by his brothers Clyde Godsey Jr. and Jerry Godsey, and sister Wanda Holloway.

Survivors include his nephews Scotty (Janie) Holloway of Spring City, Tennessee, Jess (Jessie) Holloway of Lenoir City, Tennessee and Tim (Leah ) Holloway also of Spring City ; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Dannel officiating . Interment will follow in Burchard Cemetery in Dayton, Tennessee. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
