George A. Schaller, 93 of Clemson, South Carolina passed away on Saturday, Ja nuary 20, 2018 at his residence.  His wife, Phyllis Earleen Airesman Schaller, 91 passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Oconee Memorial Hospital in Seneca, South Carolina.  Both George and Phyllis were former residents of Spring City, Tennessee and members of the Spring City United Methodist Church .

Born in Newark, Ohio, George was the son of the late George Levi Schaller and Ruth Lucille Thompson Schaller Dodd.  He was an accountant and retired from Columbia Gas of Ohio.  George was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving on the U.S.S. Pensacola.  He received the Purple Heart during the invasion of Iwo Jima.  Before moving to Clemson, George lived in Westerville, Ohio and Spring City and enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, golfing and spending time with his family.

Phyllis was also born in Newark, Ohio.  She was the daughter of the late Samuel Earl and Lillian Charlotte Johnson Airesman. Phyllis was a retired employee of Columbus Mutual Life Insurance Company.  She enjoyed sewing, boating, cooking, reading and traveling.

George and Phyllis's s urvivors include their children Beverly (Bob) Matz of Seneca, South Carolina, David (Anne) Schaller of Dayton, Ohio and LuAnn (Pat) Albers of Hilliard , Ohio, grandchildren Earl Schaller, Jeff Matz, Beth Schaller Jordan, Dan Matz and Augie Albers and great grandchildren Avynn Schaller, Wyatt Mat z , Hadley Matz, Ever ett Schaller and Ryan Matz.

Graveside services with military honors for George and Phyllis will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:00 am at t he Spring City Memorial Gardens.
