George Franklin Janow, 80, died Thursday, April 2, 2020 at his home .

Born in Rhea County on April 20, 1939, George was the son of the late John and Ina Russell Janow.  He retired from Suburban Manufacturing Company after 45 years of service.  George enjoyed spending time in his garage repairing small engines and doing woodworking.  He enjoyed his family and especially his grandchildren.  George loved to eat.  He was a member of the Eagle Furnace Baptist Church in Rockwood, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mabel "Mammy" Janow, brothers Houston, Boyd and Curtis and sister Elizabeth Miller.

Survivors include his children Ronnie (LaDonna) Janow of Dayton, Donnie (Amanda) Janow of Spring City, Linda (Charles) Fisher of Evensville and Tr acy (B. J.) Boles of Grandview, brother Ed (Joann) Janow of Spring City, sister Joann Godsey of Spring City, 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Due to rising health concerns and the safety of the community, there will not be a public visitation .   A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the Spring City Cemetery. A celebration of George's life will be announced at a later date.
