Gary Simpson age 71 of Spring City, Tennessee died Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Gary was born on May 18, 1951 and was a lifetime resident of the area. He graduated from Spring City High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. He later returned and completed his Associates degree at Roane State Community College. Gary worked for TVA until his retirement. He was an av id chess player, and was also a member of the Rhea Springs Lodge # 310 F&AM. Gary was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Gary is preceded in death by his wife Janice L. Simpson, his parents Wallace and Nellie Mae Simpson, his brothers Dean, Leroy and Jimmy Simpson, and his sisters Leone Farmer and Ora Nelle Elkins.

Survivors include his children Jarrod (Ashley) Simpson of Spring City, Tennessee, Melissa (John Williford) Kaylor of Spring City, Tennessee, and Troy "Grumpy" (Julie) Reed of Fernandina Beach, Florida; his brother Jerry Simpson of Spring City, Tennessee; his sister Carole Sue Brown of Spring City, Tennessee, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Memorial services with military Honors and Masonic services will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Robert Simpson officiating. There will be no visitation.
