Gary Allen Galloway 59, formerly of Grandview, TN, passed away peacefully in Fredericksburg, VA on March 24, 2017 comforted by his loving family.
He was the son of the late Allen and Arkie Morris Galloway and was also predeceased by his baby sister Vrina and his sister Edna Wiggins. Gary was a 1975 graduate of Rhea County High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Empire State College. While Gary's career took him around the world serving for 6 years in the US Navy and as an engineer for Lockheed Martin (Syracuse, NY), he wanted most to be at home with his family whom he loved endlessly. His humorous personality and ingenuity caused him to be regarded as the mayor of Firelane 11 on Cross Lake where he and his family spent their summers. Gary had many interests including photography, boating, fishing, and golfing. He was easily recognizable behind the wheel of his beloved red Jeep Wrangler.
Gary is survived by his wife Karen Franks Galloway of Fredericksburg, VA, sons Jason (Heather) Galloway of Woodbridge, VA and Cory (Meghann) Galloway of Atlanta, GA, granddaughter Riley Bea Galloway, brothers Alvin (Bonnie) Galloway of Grandview and Vance Galloway of Evensville, TN, sisters Doris (Ross) Bell of Spring City, Brenda (Kenneth) Walker of Dayton, Bonnie (Alfred) Reed of Grandview and Debby (Steve) Curtain of Dayton.
Funeral services will be Tuesday March 28, 2017 at 11 am in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. David Daniels officiating. Gary will be laid to rest at Reed Cemetery in Grandview with military honors. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
