Gary Scott Dunn age 56 of Dayton, Tennessee died peacefully while surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga .

He was born on April 26, 1966 in Dayton, Tennessee . Gary was a 1984 Graduate and Valedictorian of Rhea County High School. He went on to attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he received a Bachelor's degree in Biology . Later, Gary returned t o the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to earn his Master's Degree in Education. He began his teaching career in a Biology classroom at Rhea County High School and then went on to teach science at Brown Middle School and Sale Creek Middle School. Although Gary loved teaching his students the wonders of science, he recently decided to retire from teaching after 20 years . He loved traveling and spent many years as a Teacher Chaperone for extended overseas trips for groups of students. Gary loved experiencing different cultures and learning about the different countries that he visited. Some of the countries that he enjoyed visiting were Australia, Belgium, Canada, England, France, Greece, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Scotland, and Switz erland.

Gary is survived by his parents Gary A. "Pewter" and Linda Dunn of Evensville, Tennessee; sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Brian Derlak of Dayton, Tennessee; and nephew David Derlak also of Dayton. He was dearly loved and cherished by his family and will be terribly missed. Gary was a devoted son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, and cousin. He also had many close friends that he loved and considered to be his extended family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Ruehling and Rev. Von Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in Pierce Cemetery in Evensville, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. unti l 2:00 p.m. before the service at Vaughn Funeral Home.
