Francis J. Szot Jr., 80, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Rhea Medical Center.

Born in East Chicago, Indiana, Francis was the son of the late Francis J. and Bernice Zygmunt Szot Sr. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Francis and his wife, Barbara, moved from Missouri to the Spring City community in 2000. He owned and operated a fishing resort. Francis was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Dayton. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Pine Grove Fire Department. Francis enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Szot.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Szot of Spring City, children Cathy (Jesse) Rigsby of Eagleville, Tennessee, Sandy Szot of Andersonville, Tennessee and Frank (Anhata) Szot III of Portland, Oregon, sisters Elaine Carpenter of Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin, Bonnie Gregor of Greensboro, Georgia and Dorie Lomelim of Griffith, Indiana, grandchildren Jesse Rigsby, Sierra Rigsby, Annora Szot, Briana Szot and Nathaniel Szot and one great grandchild Hadley Rigsby.

Funeral Mass is Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11:00 am at the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Dayton with Father Sam Sturm officiating.
