Eugene "Gene" Thompson 89 of Spring City died Friday, August 30 , 2019 at the Spring City Care and Rehabilitation Center.  A native of Rhea County, Gene was the son of the late Oscar and Parthinia Cox Thompson. He was a longtime employee of Roane Electric. When his health permitted, Gene attended the Victory Baptist Church . He enjoyed being outdoors - especially fishing and mowing yards. But most of all, Gene loved his family and spending time with them.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years Opal McFalls Thompson, children John (Janet) Thompson, "Timmy" (Raymond) Fine, Charbo (Tonda) Thompson and Jimmy Thompson all of Spring City, brothers Hoochie (Ernie) Thompson and James (Donna) Thompson of Spring City several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sunday, September 1, 2019 at 4pm in the chapel of Vaugh n Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Waldo officiating. Interment will follow in the Thompson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughn Funeral Home from 2 to 4PM on Sunday.
