Eleanor June Trail, 91, died Monday, May 8, 2017 at the Spring City Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Quaker Hill, Connecticut, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Harold and Daisy Ackley Chappell.  A lifelong church member and a graduate of the New London Business College, Eleanor spent many happy years as a Sunday school teacher, Cub Scout leader and church secretary.  She was a secretary at Pan American World Airways and eventually became the private secretary for Equipment International Corporation, her husband's business in Spring City, Tennessee before retirement.  Eleanor and her husband, Dick Trail, moved from Connecticut to the Rhea County community in 1977.  She was a member of the Spring City United Methodist Church.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Richard Wheeler "Dick" Trail and her brother Ronald Chappell.

Survivors include her daughters Christina (Buddy) Sizemore of  Miami, Florida, Elizabeth Lawrence of Longmont, Colorado, Martha (William) McClenaghan of Jefferson, Ohio and Cathy (Mike) Swafford of Spring City, sons Timothy Trail of Grandbury, Texas, Mark (Carol) Trail of Tyrone, Georgia and Matthew Trail of Spring City, brother Harold  Chappell of Quaker Hill, Connecticut, 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Spring City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Vaughn Funeral Home.
