Earl "Gator" Shadden Sr. , 82, died Wednesday, September 19 , 2018 at his residence.

A native of Spring City, Earl was the son of the late Lawrence and Nora Waldo Shadden.  He was a boilermaker for 50 years and retired from Local #1 in Chicago, Illinois in 1999 and moved back to Spring City. Earl was known as "Gramps", "Gpapa" and "Grampa", he loved NASCAR and collected model NASCAR cars. Earl was a Chicago White Soxs fan an d a Chicago Bears fan as well.

Earl was preceded in death by his son Michael William Shadden, brothers John, Lester and Charles Shadden, sisters Vergie Gamble, Aretta Bowling and Ellen McElroy.

Earl is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Quinn Shadden of Spring City, sons Earl ( Brenda ) Shadden Jr. of Dayton , Kevin ( Claire ) Shadden of Warner Robins, Georgia and Scott ( Leigh Ann ) Shadden of Dayton , daughter Cynthia ( Alfonso ) Rodriguez of Dayton , brothers William Shadden of Terra Haute, Indiana and Jack Shadden of Rockwood, sister Lois Brackett of Rockwood, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Graveside services are Satur day, September 22 , 2018 at 4:00 p m at the Spring City Cemetery with Minister Steve Brown officiating.  The family will receive friends Satur day from 2:00 p m to 4:00 p m at Vaughn Funeral Home.
