Dorothy D . Lankford , 91 , formerly of Spring City and Dea r born Heights , Michigan, died Tues day, January 7, 2020 at her residence.

Born in Spring City, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Malcolm Robert "Bob" and Myrtle Matilda Byrd Smith.  She was a homemaker and had lived in Dearborn Heights, Michigan for 34 years before returning to the Rhea County community.  Most recently, Dorothy had lived with her son, Larry, in Seymour since 2012.  She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Spring City.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Brian Keith Lankford , her daughter Diana Hogg and her sister Joan DeVries .

Survivors include her sons Larry (Dorothy) Lankford of Seymour and James A. Lankford Jr. of North Carolina , her sister Ilene " Puzzy " Joyce Sampson of Monroe, Michigan, 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren .

Funeral services are Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Jouben officiating.  Burial will b e in the Spring City Cemetery.  There will be no visitation.
