D alton Brothers, 78, formerly of Spring City, died Monday, November 11, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital in Powell, Tennessee.

Born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Dalton was the son of the late Ernest W. and James Inez Williams Brothers Sr.  He was a graduate of M.T.S.U. majoring in Ag Science and received a M aster's D egree from U. T. K noxville in Ag Science and Horticulture. Dalton retired from the McGhee-Tyson National Guard after 22 years, also serving as 1st Sargeant with the Air Refueling Group. A teacher, h e retired from Rhea County High School after teaching 33 years in the Ag Science Department teaching Ag Science, Greenhouse Management and Forestry .  Dalton served as the F. F. A. Advisor for at least 30 years. After Dalton retired, he brokered bedding plants and produce to the Knox County area businesses until 2016 ; when his health began to fail. His hobbies were knife and gun collecting.  Dalton was a member of the Spring City United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by wife Kay Harris Brothers.

Survivors include his children Kim (Greg) Harris of Gray, Georgia, Holly (Paul) Travis of Discovery Bay, California and Niki Jennings of Knoxville, brother Ernest W. Brothers Jr. of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, grandchildren Merrit Travis, Hillary Faith Travis, Chase Lane (Heather) and Jaxson Jennings and great grandson Isaiah Lane.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Ray Hill officiating.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
