Clyde Edward Hodge, 88 died Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Roane Medical Center in Harriman.

Born on December 14, 1932, Clyde was the son of the late Tom and Ethel Garrett Hodge.  He was a graduate of Tennessee Tech and U niversity of Southern California .  Clyde proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.  He became an aerospace engineer; last working for Northrop-Grumann . One of the highlights of his career was his inv olvement in the "Minuteman Missile Project" . After his retirement in 1995, h e and his wife, Bernice moved from Torrance, California to t he Spring City Community .  Clyde loved to travel , especially to exotic places .  He loved to square dance and was constantly reading.  Clyde was a k ind, loving husband and very supportive of his wife in anything she did .

Clyde was preceded in death by his brother James Hodge and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Venus and Thelma Reed.

Survivors include his wife Bernice M. Hodge of Spring City, sister-in-law Emma Lois Harris of Spring City, nieces and nephews Donna Reed of Spring City, Kim Hodge and Brent Hodge both of Dayton, OH, Kathy Harris James and Jeffery (Brenda) Harris both of Spring City, great nieces and nephews Jessica (Aaron) Burling a me of Kingston, TN, Emily James and Justin (Candi) Harris both of Spring City, great-great nieces and nephews Lexi Bishop of Kingston, TN, Jagger Wesolowski and Neyland Sawyer both of Spring City, Brody Repasky, Anna Sophia Repasky and Kensley Harris, special cousins Brenda and Jimmy Creesman of Dayton, TN and special neighbors Frank and Pam Hill of Spring City.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home .  The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rhea County Rescue Squad, 260 W. Magoffin Avenue , Spring City, TN  37381.
