Boyd Moffett, 76 of Spring City died Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the Sweetwater Nursing Center, after a brief illiness.

Born on October 16, 1944, Boyd was a lifetime resident of this area. He as a graduate of Spring City High School " Class of 1962 " and a graduate of Carson-Newman College. Boyd served his country in the U. S. Navy as a medic. Boyd was a horticulturist and retired from Thress Nursery Gardens in Knoxville where he shared his love of flowers and gardening. He was a loyal Braves fan and loved antiques. He was a member of the Wolf Creek Baptist Church.

Boyd was preceded in death by his parents Monroe and Ruby Boshears Moffett, his brothers Ed Moffett and Glenn Moffett and his sister Sarah Ruth Hudson.

Survivors include his brothers Taft (Maxine) Moffett of Spring City and Kenneth (Linda) Moffett of Cleveland, his sisters Lorene Porter and Addie (Paul) Tallent both of Spring City and Imogene (Kenneth) Pendleton of Cleveland and special friends Joe and Betty Maloy of Jamestown, TN.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 3:00 pm at the Spring City Memorial Gardens with Rev. Paul Forgey officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Vaughn Funeral Home.
