Bill Don "Donnie" Smith Jr , 65 , died Tues day, October 30, 20 18 at Rhea Medical Center.

A longtime resident of Spring City, Donnie was the son of the late Bill Don and Gladys Pauline Bishop Smith Sr. He retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority at Watts Bar and Sequoyah after 30 years of service .  Donnie was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where he served as deacon, adult Sunday school teacher and choir director.  He also sang at hundreds of funeral s through the years.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Ethel Mc C lain Smith and his aunt Virinda M. Smith who raised him.

Donnie is survived by his loving wife Theresa Parsons Smith of Spring City, sister-in-law Debra Lynn Parsons of Spring City, brothers Harold (Jan) Smith of Rogersville, Tennessee, Darrell (Reba) Smith, Bumpas, West Virginia and Greg Smith of Kingsport, Tennessee, special longtime friend Stella (Carl) Winagar Wallen of Rogersville, dogs Missey, Lucy and Ell ie Mae and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services are Fri d ay , November 2, 20 18 at 6:00 p m at the New Hope Baptist Church in Spring City with Rev. Mark Ward officiating. The family will receive friends Fri day from 4:00 p to 6:00 p m at New Hope Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends Saturday, November 3, 2 018 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Van Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Rogersville.  Interment will be Saturday at 2:30 pm at the Weemes Cemetery in Rogersville.
