Ben Corbitt, 69 , died Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at the Starr Regional Medical Center in Athens, Tennessee.

Born on October 20, 1950, Ben served in the U. S. Marine Corp from 1969 to 1973 ; serving three tours in Vietnam where he was a rifle marksman. Ben worked as a heavy equipment operator before retiring . He was a member of Local #917 Operating Engineering. Ben lo ved the outdoors, he enjoyed hunt ing , fish ing, camp ing and playing in the snow.  Ben loved his family and liked to brag about them. He never met a stranger and could entertain anyone with h is many stories.  Ben was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father Willard Corbitt.

Survivors include his mother Ethel Corbitt Hatcher of Spring City, daughter Stephanie (Brett) Sherrill of Spring City, mother of his daughter Penny Strade r Horton of Spring City, special friend Susie King of Ten Mile, Tennessee, brother Larry (Shannon) Corbitt of Decatur, sisters Robyn (Jody) McDonald of Sale Creek, Tennessee and Lori (Anthony) Loden of Spring City and grandchildren Madison Edwards, Trent Edwards and Henley Sherrill and several nieces and nephews

A celebration of life with military honors will be held for Ben at a later date.
