Barbara S. Knisely, 76, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018.
Barb was born on the farm in Fawn Township, Pennsylvania to William McKinley and Mary L. Stump Sechrist on July 8, 1941. She graduated from Red Lion High School in 1959. Barb graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1962. She married Ned L. Knisely on January 19, 1963. Barb taught first grade from 1962-1968 in Red Lion, Pennsylvania and Kindergarten at Hillside Christian Academy in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania from 1993-2009.
Barb's greatest joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She was a member of Christian Fellowship Church, Grandview, Tennessee and served as a Bible quiz coach, Sunday school teacher and in the choir. Previously, she was a charter member of Hillside Bible Church, Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania where she served as pastor's wife for 36 years. Barb enjoyed reading and encouraging people through writing notes and cards, visiting and listening.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Ned L. Knisely, daughter Joanna Knisely, sisters Mary Ellen Beaverson, Virginia Sechrist and Nancy Sechrist, brothers Donald Sechrist and Kenneth Sechrist, son-in-law Joseph Lambert and granddaughter Joanna Lambert.
Survivors include her children Timothy (Cathy) Knisely of Halekulani, NSW, Australia, James (Tami) Knisely of Greer, South Carolina, Elizabeth (Jeff) Wagoner of Indiantown, Florida, Samuel (Michele) Knisely of Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania, Suzanne (Brian) Moore of Caddo Mills, Texas, Deborah (Daniel) Spreacker of Spring City, Jonathan (Allison) Knisely of Ottawa, Kansas, Joshua (Kori) Knisely of Greer, South Carolina and Abigail (Charles) Stence of Indiantown, Florida, brothers Robert (Millie) Sechrist of Red Lion, Pennsylvania, Thomas (Darlene) Sechrist of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania and William (Erma) Sechrist of Des Moines, Washington, sister Gladys Taylor of Red Lion, Pennsylvania and 32 grandchildren.
Friends and relatives will be received from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Christian Fellowship Church, Grandview, Tennessee. A funeral service to follow with Pastor Stephen Zimmerman presiding.
Friends and relatives will also be received from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Hillside Bible Church, 1650 Centennial Road, Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania, where the funeral will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday.
Burial will follow in the Hillside Bible Church Cemetery.
