Austin Thurman age 94 of Dayton, Tennessee died on Monday, November 10, 2025 at his residence.

He was born on February 26, 1931 in Bledsoe County to the late Stephen and Susie Brown Thurman. Austin left Tennessee and moved to Michigan and California before returning to the area in 2010. He had many hobbies, but his favorite was working as a machinist for his own business, Austin Tool and Engineering. Austin was of the Baptist faith.

Austin is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Thurman, his son Larry Thurman, his sister Christine Roberts, and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his daughter Regina Cissa of California; his special friend Pat Grant of Niota, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

As per his request, there will be no services or visitation.
