Albert O. "Chick" Purser age 97 died Frida y July 1, 2022 at his residence in Spring City. He was born on March 29, 1925 to the late Nicholas Vance and Hazel Matherly Purser. Chick attended Rhea Central High School and was drafted during his junior year. He received his diploma after serving his country during World War II in the United States Navy. Chick proudly served on the LSM 98. He served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946. Chick retired after 18 years from the Town of Lookout Mountain where he served as the Chief of Police and as a Firefighter. He loved his family and spending time working in his garden and mowing his yard. Chick loved people and enjoyed talking to everyone. He was a member of the New Bethel United Methodist Church.

Chick was also preceded in death by his sisters Virginia Croley, Evelyn "Nancy" Morgan, Joyce McBryar, Margaret "Tweed" Hickman and Luella Morris, his grandson Chad Purser and son in-law Bobby Colbaugh.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years Betty Jo Thurman Purser of Spring City, his children Marilyn Colbaugh, Rusty (Gloria) Purser and Gary (Lori) Purser all of Dayton, his sister Georgia "Sabe" (Dick) Lohman of Tucson, AZ, his grandchildren Scott Colbaugh, Shannon Colbaugh, Jennifer (Kevin) Smith, Heather (Scooter) Graves and Travis (Brianna) Purser, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with military honors will be Sunday July 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Spring City Cemetery with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org.
