Agnew P. Ellis, 90 passed away November 29, 2020 at his home i n Chattanooga of natural causes. He was born and raised in Spring City, Tennessee and graduated from Spring City High School. Agnew married his hometown sweetheart and wife of 69 years Barbara (nee McPhail). Agnew was a member of the Navy Reserves and went on to serve in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He later graduated from Tennessee Polytechnical University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Agnew retired from DuPont in Chattanooga after managing the powerhouse for many years, and he continued working locally in the Boiler Industry for decades afterward. He spent the majority of his recreational time on the Tennessee River with his entire family. Agnew was a loving and caring family man and will be missed by many. He was a member of the Red Bank Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Agnew was also a member of the American Legion Post #203.
Agnew is preceded in death by his parents Fr ank and Anna Ellis, sisters Betty A nn Huling and Martha Jane Bogle, brother Samuel Schild Ellis and great grandson Nicholas Speights .
Survivors include his wife Barbara M. Ellis of Chattanooga , children Gary (Carla) Ellis of Fairborn, OH , Jerry (Pat) Ellis of Hixson, TN, Ted (Janet) Ellis of Spring City , Tom (Suzanna) Ellis of Soddy Daisy , Keith (Charla) Ellis of Dayton and Joy Ellis (Kevin) of Chattanooga, sister Mary Ruth (Darwin) Womack of Atlanta, GA, 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private. Burial with military honors will be in the Smith-Wilkey Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Red Bank Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 115 Morrison Springs Road, Red Bank, TN 37415.
